Boost Your Self-Confidence in 3 Minutes
“Act the way you’d like to be and soon you’ll be the way you’d like to act.” -Bob Dylan
This week I have a great trick for you to raise your energy for your next presentation, reunion, job interview, talk with boss, etc.
Maybe you know it…it’s one of the most watched TED talks. I was so impressed that I dedicated Chapter 61 of my book to it.
Im talking about the “Superhero Pose”! (Hands on hips. Feet shoulder width apart. Chest out.)
And why in the world would you do that? Because it will increase your performance and give you an additional shot of self confidence!
The Science behind it:
There was a study at Harvard (by Amy Cuddy and Dana Carney) that has shown that holding “power postures” (the superhero pose is one of them) for 2 minutes changes your whole body chemistry immediately! It creates a 20 percent increase in testosterone (which boosts confidence) and a 25 percent decrease in cortisol (which reduces stress).
Imagine! If you have an important presentation, reunion, or competition, just take on the posture of a confident person for two minutes (in your office, the restroom or wherever): Put your hands on your hips and spread your feet shoulder width apart or lean back in a chair and spread your arms. Hold the posture for at least two minutes…and see what happens!
As I said Amy Cuddy’s Ted-Talk about this experiment is amazing and I highly recommend you to watch it right NOW. It will be worth it! I promise! (And I only make promises that I can keep)
Here’s the link to the Ted-Talk: https://youtu.be/Ks-_Mh1QhMc
I was really surprised that they even showed it on Grey’s Anatomy: https://youtu.be/nPH1xRnO3oQ
Until next time!
Best wishes!
